The May 12th mid-week walk was at a macadamia farm near Yandina. 20 people were in attendance.
Glenn, the owner of this attractive property, graciously showed us around.
He took our group to some native bee hives that he has housed in the orchard,
and pointed out how important native bees are to pollination of macadamias.
Many of the regular birds for the Sunshine Coast were seen during our walk, but
many needed a bit of resolve to manage good looks.
We were fortunate to avoid most of the predicted storm front with just a short
shower to contend with.
Highlight of the day was a Dusky Honeyeater feeding at a lantana shrub,
unfortunately not seen by everyone.
A total of 49 species were seen, with another eight species heard.
