throated Scrubwren, Monarchs, Green Catbird, and lots more

Other details - This property is a beautiful 42 acre
macadamia farm on the Northern end of the Blackall Range above Yandina, with
magnificent views overlooking the Sunshine Coast. Over the past 10 years a weed
ridden gully, dissecting the property, has been turned into great habitat with
help from environmental grants and LFW. The property backs onto Mapleton National
Park.

Other details – habitat is coastal headland on a sandy track and rocky
foreshore. Facilities - flushing toilets, picnic shelters, drinking taps
Possible Species - Eastern Osprey, Brahminy Kite , White bellied Sea
eagle, Sooty Oystercatcher, Eastern Reef Egret, Australasian Gannet, terns,
bush birds, plus turtles, stingrays and whales.
Risks - NOTE - there will be
the option of walking on the rocky foreshore. This would be on an uneven
surface with boulders, wet rocks and some scrambling. However, some people may
choose to return along the sandy track where the rocks can be viewed from the
cliff-top lookouts.

map below] on Upper Pinbarren Road, Pinbarren, meeting point is 300 metres from
the end of the bitumen there is a parking spot on the left hand side. The walk
will transfer to Steve and Carol Popple’s residence for the bird call and a wander through
the garden

Other details – Roadside birding along Upper Pinbarren
Road with its open farmland habitat combined with remnant vegetation offers an
interesting mix of bird species. Steve & Carol have a small rural block
that they are converting from predominantly grass to native vegetation to
increase biodiversity and hopefully attract more birds year round. Species seen
at the property to date total 120 species.

resident birds as well and we should have time to explore nearby mangroves and
bushland. An extension across to nearby Godwin Beach and then Bribie Island
could be considered.

walk goes into Mapleton National Park, through mainly dry eucalpyt forest, with

It does involve a
creek crossing (on stepping stones) and a couple of steepish inclines. A good
variety of bush birds here and a total of over 50 species should be possible.
Nearest toilets are at Kanyana Park on Dulong Rd, near the lookout.
