Welcome to October!
Our first outing this month is a Wednesday outing with a little difference as it is being held in the afternoon at Toorbul. Obviously, Toorbul is a site for migratory waders [among other things] and the excursion is timed to ensure that we see the waders as well as possible. We are meeting at 3pm at the southern end of the esplanade for a high tide peak at 3:52. We will have the sun at our back, so the views of the birds should be excellent. We should expect to enjoy the sight of birds flying in for the hour pre high tide and to have good numbers and diversity of species there for a while during the high tide.
Bob James will be leading the excursion and he is a very experienced and knowledgeable birder – who also knows a lot about flowers…
