JUNE WEEKEND AWAY 2018 - PLEASE ACT TODAY!!

Hello all,
I appreciate that this is a long way in the future however I would like to try to sort it out now and secure accommodation for our first weekend away in 2018 to Hervey Bay so I need people to commit ASAP. It is guaranteed to be an interesting weekend away visiting some fascinating new sites and some good birds as well!

The dates and schedule are as follows;
Friday June 22nd 2018 – depart Nambour at 5-30pm [perhaps for Northern dwellers we can arrange some highway pick ups?
  • Fast food dinner enroute at Maryborough before
  • O/n Hervey Bay
Saturday June 23rd – Full day birding in and around Hervey Bay [exact itinerary in prep]
  • BBQ dinner at accommodation [we will self cater]
Sunday June 24th – morning birding in and around Hervey Bay before travelling back to Nambour
  • Arriving c. 4pm in Nambour

The exact cost will need to be worked out but it will obviously be a similar ball park figure to previous trips. In our bus we can take only a maximum of 16, including me to ensure enough space for lunches and luggage.

The bad news? I will need a $100 buck per person with your booking to confirm and hold accommodation. With a cancellation this will only be refundable if someone can be found to take your place.

PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL TO BOOK YOUR SPOT AND I WILL SEND DETAILS OF WHERE TO SEND YOUR DEPOSIT. I MUST HAVE THE TRIP FULL WITHIN A FORTNIGHT!

Outings for February 2018.

Dear all,
A quick email to advise of our first outings for February 2018.
On this coming Saturday, the 3rd of February, members have a choice of outings. Both outings will meet at 7am.

The first option is to join Ken Cross and Robyn Combes at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve [MCSR] for a walk there. This walk is also open to members of the public and continues our commitment to Sunshine Coast Council and the MCSR. Please RSVP to me at friarbird43@bigpond.com if you plan to attend the MCSR outing.

The second option is to join John Malings and, no doubt others, at the Maleny Golf Course for a walk around the Maleny Precinct. Meet at the car park adjacent to Pattermore House [opposite the Maleny Golf Course]. If you are attending this outing no RSVP is necessary.

Further outings are planned throughout February [all meet at 7am] ;
MCSR – Wednesday the 7th – Steve Grainger and John & Julie Eley
Kureelpa Falls Track – Wednesday the 14th – Vince Lee and John Kooistra
MCSR – Saturday the 17th – Steve Grainger [if anyone else is keen to assist Steve please email me!]
MCSR – Wednesday the 21st – Russ Lamb and Robyn Combes
Scarfe Road Reserve at Glenview – Saturday the 24th – Ken Cross and John Birbeck

More information will be provided on these outings as they approach.

If you could assist with guiding MCSR outings in March please contact me. One outing currently has no one and Robyn Combes if flying solo for many. The dates are as follows;

03/03/18 Saturday – Ken Cross, Maggie Overend, Robyn Combes
07/03/18 Wednesday –  Robyn Combes
17/03/18 Saturday – Robyn Combes
21/03/18 Wednesday –
31/03/18 Saturday - Robyn Combes

In addition, and I appreciate that this is a fair way out we need a leader for a mid-week May 16 outing to Ferntree Creek National Park as both John Kooistra and Vincent Lee will be away. Again, if you could assist please email me.

Cheers for now,
Ken
